I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist. I became a social worker because I have always had a strong desire to help people through difficult times. We will all face struggles in life, but it is often in our struggles that we take time to pause, change, reflect and grow. I believe in our mind-body connection and when one part is suffering, the other ultimately suffers as well. I use a strength based and holistic approach to care.
I decided to name my practice Discovery Counseling, because my goal during therapy is to encourage and support people to discover new beliefs in themselves, new ways of healing, and new ways of thinking that will lead them into a more fulfilled way of living. Education and Background
Prior to founding Discovery Counseling, I worked for over ten years at a non-profit agency assisting families of children with chronic and life limiting illnesses. During my time there I helped many parents who traveled from all over the world for medical treatment for their children. Most of the individuals, couples, and families that I worked with were going through a life transition, a new health diagnosis of a loved one, anxiety, or grief and loss. Some were experiencing all of these struggles at the same time. As a result of my work there, I developed a stronger hope in the human capacity to endure pain and suffering, yet grow and develop strengths simultaneously.
